Hawthorn Pool House

Taking advantage of a sloping site, this pool pavilion engages with the landscape and provides views of a nearby stream.  Parking spaces are tucked below the main level.  The building's "Dogtrot" plan allows the entertaining area to open directly to the pool, providing a shady escape from the summer sun.  Sliding barn doors pay homage to the rural surroundings while white clapboard siding harmonizes with the 18th century main house.

This project received a Design Award from the American Institute of Architects.
